Salt Lake City Engagement Photos

August 29, 2023

Wowza, this photo session was absolutely amazing! Seth and Erin are true city dwellers, so it’s only fitting for them to want their engagement photos to capture the essence of the city they call home. They mentioned they wanted their engagement photos taken in Salt Lake City, and they explained they wanted to make it feel like a laid-back Saturday, with nowhere to be and nothing to do but explore.

Taking City Engagement Photos from Sunrise To Sunset

I provided them with a list of places to go and fun activities to do, and they picked their favorites. Then, I created a detailed timeline for their day. We kicked off the engagement session at sunrise at Little Dell Reservoir. Erin had mentioned she wanted photos with wildflowers so I knew that Little Dell Reservoir would be perfect! After taking advantage of the beautiful morning light, we ventured into engagement photos in the heart of Salt Lake City.

A few of our favorite places in Salt Lake City for engagement photos!

We started our engagement photos in the city by taking a stroll through the Avenues. We documented authentic and real moments between Seth and Erin as they walked, talked, laughed and explored. It wasn’t long until they found themselves at the Cathedral of the Madeleine! The building was stunningly beautiful and full of so much history!

Our next stop was the Liberty Park Greenhouse! The flowers in the garden surrounding it were so pretty and they smelled so good! Seth and Erin took in the scents and the sun, relaxing on the grass and just enjoying each other’s presence. The best kind of relationships are the ones that are simply happy without having to be entertained, just thankful to be together.

After relaxing in Liberty Park and exploring the greenhouse, we stopped for breakfast at Bruge’s waffles in downtown Salt Lake City. We were able to document natural and loving moments between Seth and Erin as they talked and laughed over breakfast.

Discovering music and hidden gems in Salt Lake City

Once they finished eating, we headed over to the Salt Lake City Public Library and pretended like they were teenagers in a John Green novel. From going up and down the glass elevators to reading poetry to each other on the floor between bookshelves, the library made for some great memories.

Randy’s Record shop was super busy so we couldn’t get many photos, but it was still such a cool experience being there and discovering good music. One of Seth and Erin’s favorite things to do is go to concerts and listen to music together. They have big hearts for a good record so it was really cool to incorporate something so important to them in their photos.

The next stop was the International Peace Gardens! This place is truly a hidden gem of Salt Lake. We have all lived here for years and never knew about this stunning and very emotionally moving location!

A fun day in the city we call home!

The day was filled with laughter, discovery, relaxation, and a sense of being travelers in our backyard. It was incredible to see Seth and Erin fully immersed in the joy of the moment, taking in all the sights and sounds around them. The photos we captured truly reflect their adventurous spirits and genuine happiness.

When I think about the images from this session, a few words immediately come to mind: timeless, nostalgic, emotive, cinematic, documentary, passionate, true to color, authentic, and artistic. Every photo tells a story, celebrating the love and connection between Seth and Erin. It’s moments like these that remind me why I am so deeply passionate about photography.

Ultimately, this session was a joyful adventure. It allowed Seth and Erin to explore the city they love, while also exploring their love for each other. It was a day of connection, happiness, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. As a photographer, moments like these make me feel alive and grateful for the opportunity to document such beautiful stories.
